Bridges

Over the Yahara

During this class, journey along the Yahara River from Tenney Park to Lake Monona, with stops at many of the 15 bridges that cross the river.

Pastor Dave Carlson, who lives and works alongside the Yahara, will help us to make the connection between the world around us and the Creator. Find a sample at: www.twobookretreats.com

Your other guide, Nancy Macgregor  is a watercolorist and Instructor.

She will demonstrate for you the basic wash and brush techniques that even beginners can use to make your own visual memories of this scenic passage in a watercolor sketchbook.

So join us for spiritual reflection and artistic expression where wildlife, native plants, and Madisonians share the space.

Watercolor by Nancy Macgregor  Walking Bridge near Jennifer St.

Above: A site at the first class:  The pier beside the locks in Tenney Park on Lake Mendota.

Center: Map of the Yahara River showing where we will be traveling across the Isthmus from Lake Mendota to Lake Menona along the river.

Right:  Some of the participants in last years class

painting along the river. There was also the Williamson Street bridge close by to the right of the photo where some others were painting.

Below:  This year we have scouted and picked all new locations. Besides the Locks in Tenney Park shown above, there is a new bridge in Tenney Park shown directly below.  The lower right photo is of a different railroad bridge, and finally, the Yahara flowing into Lake Menona is a site for the 6th class.
